How do we get another sister now – Cynthia Osokogu’s brothers

Flight Lieutenant Kenneth Uchechukwu Osokogu, Cynthia’s eldest brother, described her as a good girl.
“She was the closest person to me. When we came on holidays during Christmas, New Year or burial ceremonies, she slept here in the second room,” he said pointing to a window at a corner.
“She didn’t tell me she was going to Lagos for business. But she was a good girl. She was smart and intelligent and she was in her business for long to know where to get goods. She just did what most normal girls do but fell into the wrong hands,” Kenneth said.
“She had monthly allocation from her father and me. She had her own business and did not need money. She was comfortable.
“I am the one that went to Lagos to identify her body. The police told me, according to confessions made by the suspects that she had been talking to them for four months. They told her they were in the same business, that they were retailers and would sell her goods at cheaper price. You know we have a relation in the United States who often sent her goods and these people told her they had the same goods and will sell at cheaper price. She believed them,” he said.
Cynthia’s immediate elder brother, an Assistant Superintendent of Customs, Williams Ehiedu Osokogu, described her sister as a loving and a caring lady.
Cynthia was the last born and only daughter of a family of four. Her parent’s second born, Tony Azubike Osokogu, lives in Greece.
“How do we get another sister now,” Williams Osokogu asked with tearful eyes.
Born on 10 November, 1987 in Agbor town, Cynthia started schooling at the Command Children School, Ilorin and moved to the Command Secondary School, Jos from 1997 to 2004.
She secured admission into the Nasarawa State University, Keffi between 2005 and 2009 and went for her National Youth Service Corps. She finished in 2010.
She was a graduate of English Language at the Nasarawa State University and was pursuing a Master’s degree in Public Administration while running a boutique – Dress Code in Keffi, the Nassarawa State capital at the same time.
24-year old Cynthia was murdered on 22 July in Lagos State by supposed friends she met via social media.
Use social media for development
The Delta state governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan condemned the use of social media to commit crime instead of using it as a means of development.
The governor, who was accompanied by his wife, Roli, said this when he visited the family of Frank Osokogu to condole them over the tragic death of their daughter, Cynthia.
He said the social media has been used to promote growth and development in the developed societies and lamented that some Nigerians were exploiting it negatively.
Senator Ifeanyi Okonwa and the Obi of Owa, Emmanuel Efezomor 11 and others attended the ceremonial burial.

Why Are You Not Granting Nigerians Visa? (FG Asks)

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Olugbenga Ashiru, has expressed government’s displeasure at the shoddy treatment of Nigerian visa applicants by a private visa processing firm, Visa Facilitating Global Services Nigeria Limited.
Ashiru said  this when he received the management team of VFS Global in Abuja on Thursday.
The minister had summoned the company’s management team following reports of poor treatment of Nigerian visa applicants.
This was contained in a statement by the ministry’s spokesperson, Mr. Ogbole Ahmedu-Ode.
The statement said the minister led the ministry’s team and was accompanied by the Under-Secretary (Economic and Consular), Chief of Protocol, Director (Consular and Immigration Services Division) and the spokesperson for the ministry.
The statement read in part,  “He (Ashiru) pointed out that reports reaching him indicate that those who have the means and pay the sum of N10,000, received VIP treatment, while the rest are left to wallow in the sun or in the rain or in uncomfortable accommodation with no cooling facilities, even at the height of the hot season.
“He informed the team that it was unacceptable to have our citizens queue in the rain and shine or subjected to inconveniences.
“In response, Ms. Natashia Bhargava (leader of the VFS team) explained that the firm’s operations took into consideration the comfort of visa applicants and promised to do more to improve on their services.”

JTF kills seven, arrest 13 suspected members of Boko Haram

The Joint Task Force (JTF) in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital has killed seven and arrested 13 persons suspected to be members of the dreaded Boko Haram sect.
The spokesman of the JTF in Borno state, Lieutenant Colonel Sagir Musa in a statement made available to Channels Television in Maiduguri said the security officials were conducting a cordon and search operation at Gwange junction of the metropolis when the hoodlums started shooting at them sporadically in reaction to the operation.
The statement said in response to the attack, seven of the insurgents were killed while thirteen were arrested.
Col Sagir however said no casualty was recorded on the side of the security forces.
Suspected sect member had on Wednesday launched an attack on telecommunication installations destroying several masts and killing over 20 persons in Yobe, Borno and Kano states.
The spokesman of the sect, Abul Qaqai in an emailed statement said “the attacks on these communication facilities will continue unabated, because the GSM firms are assisting the Federal Government and its security agencies in tracking and eventual arrests of our members in many parts of the country.”
The Boko Haram in the statement also threatened attacks on the facilities of the Voice of America (VOA), including its personnel and correspondents.
The statement reads “Our ultimate goal is the establishment of an Islamic State in Nigeria and we would not hesitate in taking punitive measures against anybody who sabotage or assist others that are sabotaging our efforts.
“This is why we are fighting the Nigerian government and its collaborators, including telecommunication companies. We would continue attacking them (telecoms) until the time they stopped releasing information about our activities.
Telecommunication facilities were vandalised across the northern part of the country rendering communication within the region erratic.

This Is Heartless

I really battled with myself whether to put this up or not. I've had the photos for a while but it just didn't seem right at first...but someone around me now said it's information and should be passed on. If some of you find it offensive, then I will take it down.

Video of How Cynthia Was Raped; Plus Her BB Found With Businessman

Certainly, the last has not been heard on the gruesome murder, in a Lagos hotel, of Miss Cynthia Udoka Osokogu, the Delta State-born 2009 second runner-up of the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria, MBGN, with the recent recovery of her Black Berry, BB, mobile phone from a Port Harcourt businessman....

The middle-age businessman (names withheld) was arrested by detectives attached to Area ‘E’ Command Festac Town, Lagos, after the deceased’s BB pin number was retrieved from her father.

This is also coming on the heels of the discovery of a bizarre video recording of how Cynthia was allegedly raped by her suspected killers. The video was seen in the laptop of the suspects.

In the video, TON  gathered, Cynthia’s face and brutalised body was clearly shown being raped, while the faces of the rapists were blurred. Apart from being tied and forcefully raped, the rapists also bit her deeply and several times in her breasts, buttocks and back .

It was gathered that although Cynthia’s BB has had all information pertaining to ownership of the handset flashed-off in an attempt to make pass for a brand new phone, detectives led by the Area Commander, ACP Daniel Okoro, were able to use the pin number to get the number of the SIM Card of the current holder...

According to sources, one of the detectives then put a call to the Port Harcourt-based business man to say that the BB in his possession was a stolen one.

Through the information on his registered SIM Card and the receiving mast, detectives moved to Port Harcourt, where his residence was located.

It was said that the phone buyer openly admitted that he bought it through a friend in Lagos, adding that it was sent to him through courier services.

The source said: “When the detectives were able to get the pin number from Cynthia’s father, they started work on the theory that all the information contained in her handset may have been deleted...

“But with their knowledge of BB, they know it can never have two pin numbers. So they started working on that theory, and it bore fruits.”

‘I sold Maryam Abacha’s jewels to buy cocaine for her son’ - Abdullahi Ali

A telephone operator in the house of the late Head of State General Sani Abacha, who is standing trial before a Kano Chief Magistrate’s Court over alleged theft of jewelries belonging to former First Lady Hajiya Maryam Abacha, has told the court that son of the late miliary head of state sent him to sell the gold and buy cocaine with the proceeds.

 Abdullahi Ali, who was charged to court along three others for the offence committed in 2007, denied the allegation of theft and house breaking in his defence yesterday. While being led by his counsel, Barrister Abubakar Muhammad, the accused said Abdullahi Sani Abacha gave him the jewelries about five years ago, when his mother was away in Abuja. 

“He directed me to sell it and take the money to one Tony in Sabon Gari [quarters] to collect cocaine for him,” he said. He also said Abdullahi almost killed him when he refused to comply with a similar directive, earlier on.

The accused person, who has been in prison custody for five years, said he was given N110,000 as part payment for the gold which he sold N220, 000. “I took the money to Tony and collected the cocaine,” he added..

Ali, however, said when Maryam Abacha returned from the journey and discovered that she had been robbed, other house servants who were not in good terms with him roped him in. He said the chief security officer to the former First Lady, Captain Hassan, along with Mohammed Ali, Musa Ya’u and Murtala Ali, told Maryam that they were suspecting him..

“When I told the police about Tony, Captain Hassan quickly called him on the phone and asked him to run away and since then I have not heard from him again,” he said.

Nigerian actor, Jim Iyke has yet again lived up to his ‘bad boy’ image, this time in the movie, My First Wife, where he gets cosy with Ghanaian actress, Nikki Samonas.

One of the more risque scenes in the movie had the duo engaged in some adult moves under the sheets. The shirtless actor was all over a naked Samonas; at one point, he’s fondling the actress’ breasts.

The movie, directed by Ghollywood director Mike Ajaere, tells the story of a rich father who decides to abandon his career to attend to his family, but  is met by a wife who is determined to be a thorn in his side. The movie was shot in 2011 and also stars Jibola Dabo, Rita Dominic, Barbara Ukatah, among others.

The sad story of cancer patient, Debbie

Debbi: Before and now

Debbie Osarere Idiagbonya is a 28-year-old medical lab technician who was recently diagnosed with a cancerous growth on her left breast, which was spreading rapidly to her right breast and neck.

Following a tweet on of her case on August, 23, 2012, the media, blogs and other social networks went into action to help her raise the sum of N6m needed for her surgery.

Her Story

‘I discovered a mass in my left breast on 24th of May, 2011 and I went for screening @ National cancer prevention institute Ishaja road, from the screening centre I was advised to go for sonography which I did on 26th of May, 2011 @ Ojuelegba Scanning Centre where I was asked to go for Fine Needle Aspiration for cytology @ Me cure healthcare limited Oshodi.’ So my fine needle aspiration for cytology said my breast mass n lymph nodes are negative for MALIGNANT cells.. I had my first surgery 13th June 2011 and my 2nd surgery 16th November 2011 then I took my lump for Histopathology investigation on 24th November and the investigation reported I have INVASIVE DUCTAL CARCINOMAL on 5th Dec 2011.’

Response

When Debbie’s condition became public on August 24, 2012, Nigerians began responding. Musician Ruggedman first visited Debbie at her home and promised to support the ‘Save Debbie’ move.

Shortly afterwards, David ‘Davido’ Adeleke donated the sum of N1m.

Still setting good examples for the public, Kogi born actress, Halima Abubakar donated the sum of N100,000, while another musician, Solid Star, donated N1m. With the positive push by celebrities, many other Nigerians responded likewise, and by August 29, 2012, Debbie had raised the sum needed for her surgery.

Family background

Although much is not known about her background, NET gathered that Debbie lost her father on her birthday, August 1, this year. He was buried on Thursday, August 30, 2012.

Mrs Silifat Idiagbonya, expressing herself in Yoruba, spoke about her fears over her daughter’s life. According to her, the doctor had given them until the middle of September to raise the required sum for Debbie’s surgery or she may lose her life.

The 61-year-old woman told NET that they had sought financial help from Debbie’s Uncle who lives abroad but it was a futile attempt. It was at this point that the doctor advised them to seek the help of the public. She was however optimistic that Nigerians would come to their aid.

The story so far

Debbie has raised the sum needed for her surgery, but after the surgery, she is required to undergo chemotherapy six times with each treatment costing about N460,000, so she will still need assistance after surgery.

Recently, another cancer patient Funmi Lawal benefited from charitable donations from celebrities including MAVIN records boss, Don Jazzy and actresses Tonto Dike and Rukky Sanda.

KWAM 1 gets Canadian citizenship

Fuji icon K1 the Ultimate is now a full fledged Canadian citizen.

NET gathered that the revolutionary Fuji musician concluded the process four years ago. But sources say only recently was he presented with physical instruments confirming his citizenship- as seen in the photo above, obtained via a Facebook post by promoter Gbenga Adewusi.

No word yet from K1, and his reps were not immediately available for comments.

The 54-year-old Fuji icon last year celebrated his 40th year on stage as a performer. In an exclusive interview with NET, he stated he had no plans to retire as a musician or stage performer.

17 Year Old Commits Adultery

A 17-year-old girl, Titilayo Ojo, of Kado village of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja was on Thursday arraigned at an Abuja Senior Magistrates’ Court for committing adultery with her neighbour’s husband.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Sim Emmanuel, told the court that on August 30, 2012, one Mrs. Idongesit Sunday of Kado village, Abuja, reported the accused at the Life Camp Police station.
Emmanuel said Sunday reported that she caught the accused having sexual intercourse with her husband on her matrimonial bed on August 29, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
He added that when Sunday picked up a quarrel with her husband over the incident, he poured a pot of boiling water, which contained pepper, on her.
Emmanuel told the court that Sunday had since been admitted at the Asokoro General Hospital, following injuries she sustained in the attack.
He said that the accused was charged with adultery, adding that the offence was  punishable under Section 388 of the Penal Code.
The accused, however, pleaded ‘not guilty’ to the charge.
The Senior Magistrate, Abdullahi Illelah, therefore, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with a surety in like sum.
Illelah ordered that the surety must be a reasonable and reliable Nigerian who must a known and of definite address within the jurisdiction of the court.
The case was adjourned to September 12, 2012 for further hearing.

Man Matched Wife For Little Mistake

NSUKKA—A man who was identified by the police as Sunday Eze (Jnr) has reportedly matcheted his wife to death at the University town of Nsukka in Enugu State.
Eze, alleged to be a native of Agbani Nguru in Nsukka Local Government was said to have killed his wife following a slight misunderstanding he had with her.
Vanguard sources said at Nsukka that the suspect allegedly killed his wife lon Tuesday night in the presence of their only child Onyebuchi Eze, 11. The suspect was alleged to have rebuffed pleas by  the child not to kill his mother.
The kid who received a deep cut in his hand in attempt to prevent his father from killing his mother is a form five pupil of a primary school in the area.
The suspect was however said to have had a mental problem before the incident. It was alleged that the suspect had threatened to kill his wife each time they had any disagreement.
Police sources quoted the 11 year old boy as stating that his parents had quarrels that night before  his father used his matchet and killed his ‘’mummy,’’ adding, ‘’I rushed him and pleaded but he did not listen to me. He stabbed my mother severally both on the head and legs and on seeing that mummy is dead, he asked me to go to his elder brother’s residence, and tell them what has happened while he also moved to the nearby neighbours to inform them.’’
According to the police sources, Onyebuchi complied as directed by his father only for the assailant to escape into the bush for three days before he was caught by a search party in the community.
The search party  headed by one Christopher Ejike Onah alias Papa Nsukka, was said to have apprehended the suspect after ransacking all the nearby bushes and villages.
He was said to have attempted to kill himself with a screw driver which gave him a very deep cut in the throat.before he was arrested on the third night, looking frail and haggard.
The suspect told Vanguard that his late wife was responsible for his mental problem even as he further claimed that she died during a scuffle with him on the fateful night.
“I was told by my diviner that my wife has a hand in my mental problem which causes me internal heat at intervals,’’ the suspect further told Vanguard.

Truck Driver Rapes 5yr Old Girl In Lagos

A 50-year old truck driver, Segun Balogun has been arraigned before an Ejigbo Magistrate’s court in Lagos, southwest Nigeria, for allegedly defiling  a 5-year old girl (name withheld).
He allegedly raped the victim and infected her with a sexually transmitted disease (STD).
The defendant, who is a widower, allegedly took the victim to his house at 1, Araromi street, Ejigbo, Lagos and raped her.
Balogun was charged before the presiding Magistrate, Mrs. M. B. Folami on a two-count charge of having carnal knowledge and putting his finger inside her private part.
The court denied him bail and ordered him to be remanded in prison custody.
The matter was prolonged because the victim’s mother was persuaded by the police at Ejigbo division to withdraw the matter until WAPA, Alausa intervened.
Balogun allegedly locked the victim inside his one-room apartment laid her on his bed, and started putting his  finger inside her vagina.
After that, he reportedly attempted to force his penis after robbing cream  inside her vagina and he  injured her in the process. She started crying for some time and he allowed her to go.
Narrating what happened, the victim told reporters that she, with other children were playing outside when Balogun invited them into his room.
She said when they entered Balogun sent other children on an errand and locked his door while she was inside.
She said Balogun carried her and laid her on top of his bed and removed her pant and inserted his manhood into her private part.
She said because she was crying continuously as a result of the pain and bruise, Balogun  left her and opened the door and let her go.
She did not tell her mom what happened. Rather she told her younger brother, who reported it to their mom.
The girl’s mother told Reporters that she got to know that Balogun raped her daughter when the victim’s younger brother told her about it.
Balogun was arraigned on Wednesday on a two-count charge of unlawful carnal knowlede and fingering contrary to the Criminal Code Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria.
He pleaded not guilty.
His counsel applied for his bail which was opposed by the prosecutor, Oladejo Balogun.
Balogun told the court that the offence the defendant committed was a serious one, adding that if he was granted bail and he went back home, it will have serious negative consequence on the society.
The court noted that the offence was a bailable one but used its discretion to deny him bail  because of the impact in the society.  The court  adjourned the matter till 10 and 12 September, 2012 for trial.

I arrived Lagos about three months ago to stay with my uncle and his wife, who's an Ibo woman. By the way my uncle is from Edo State and their marriage is about four years without kids. In the last week of August my bros travelled to the North on official business and something happened in his bedroom.
I came back that day because I could not meet up a job appointment in Igando area due to heavy traffic. I was reluctant to return home since I had just left but I couldn't think of a better place to go so I headed home. On getting to our compound, I didn't find the gate man at his post and I was even angry because of the security risk of him leaving the gate open like that.
But something got me worried when I saw the gate man's sandals right inside our sitting room. I just told myself that something is going on between my uncle's wife and this dirty boy. I was right, when I moved close to the window of my uncle's bedroom I started hearing screams of sexual pleasure from his wife. I tried to peep into the room but it was difficult because of the protector.
So, I summoned courage and walk to the door as if I wanted to tell my uncle's wife that I was back. I opened the door and caught the adulterous woman red-handed under the dirty gate man (boy). Sadly, the gate man was already ejaculating so he couldn't get up immediately, it took him few seconds to jump off and grab his clothes.
 I simply walked away and returned to the sitting room, pretending to be watching a programme on the TV. Few minutes later my uncle's wife joined me and started begging that it would not happen again. I didn't say a word but when she kept pressing I said ok I've heard. Later she brought food for me but I refused it and since then she has been putting pressure on me.
 The unfortunate thing is now she even wants me to sleep with her as an assurance that I wont tell my uncle, always coming to my room half naked. Because of this I've not eating in the house in the last one week, I'm almost going broke already.
 My uncle may be back next week. I will like people with more experience to tell me what to do when he comes back. Should I tell my uncle the kind of wife he married or quietly move out?

Two Heartless Brothers

The entire Festival Town in Lagos was thrown into pandemonium on Thursday evening as a decomposing body of a man was discovered inside a duplex on B Close, House 6 of 3rd Avenue. The decomposing body, it was gathered, was that of the younger sibling of two brothers allegedly living together in the duplex which was left for them by their deceased parents.

The corpse was identified as that of Akinbuyi Ajayi, 39, living in the same apartment with Toye Ajayi and Omotola Ajayi, who were identified as his brothers. He was allegedly killed by his brothers and his body kept in a room inside the flat. The corpse had been mutilated by the two brothers. A police source alleged that Toye and Omotola were selling the body parts of their brother for money, adding that the two were caught with some human parts which eventually led to a search on their apartment by law enforcement personnel.
Toye and Omotola were suspected to have chopped off the head, hands, private part and part of the two legs of Akinbuyi and allegedly sold them to suspected ritualists. The decomposing body of Akinbuyi was moved by the policemen attached to FESTAC Police Station led by the Divisional Police Officer, Mr. Mohammed Mu’azu, a Chief Superintendent of Police and officials of Amuwo Odofin Local Government council to a morgue, while the police took other items recovered from the house into custody.

Residents of FESTAC came out in their large numbers to watch the horrifying spectacle as the council officials and policemen removed the body. Apart from the body that was recovered from the house, charms, amulets, a pot filled with human blood and two large dummies of human beings were discovered. Some of the charms and amulets were concealed inside a carton with the inscription: Lord Krishna Agabarthi 999.

Omotola, who claimed to be an engineer denied knowing anything about the corpse. He claimed to be jobless, adding that he depended on goodwill of people to survive along with Toye. He denied knowledge of the death of his brother. He explained that Akinbuyi was arrested recently by sanitation task force, adding that the deceased spent three days in prison.

Omotola also said Akinbuyi was born in 1973 and that he usually went out and came in at will. He told the police that his brother’s killers must have committed the act before dumping the deceased inside one of the rooms. He further said their father died in a motor accident recently. Their father, he claimed, was the owner of the duplex where they live. Akinbuyi’s corpse was dumped in one of the rooms upstairs.

Toye described himself as a primary school teacher. When the police asked him where he teaches, he could not utter a word.

Men Beheads 7 Year Old for 250K

7 year old Samu Danjuma was John Yakubu's neighbour's child in Nasarawa. Yakubu was said to have lured the little boy to a forest where he beheaded him and dumped his body in a stream. Yakubu then took his head to Ishaya in Abuja who promised him N250, 000 for fresh human head. Dakulung was to give the head to someone else for ritual purposes, but fortunately the two men were accosted and arrested by men of the SSS following a tip off. They were paraded to newsmen this week in Abuja.

The police in Calabar, Cross River State, have arrested a nurse, Dorothy Hayford Nkanu, who allegedly poured acid on her lover, Edmund Educhukwu (pictured above) on suspicion that he was dating another lady. Neighbours later rushed Edmund to the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, UCTH, where doctors have been battling to save his badly damaged face and left eye. The right eye was damaged beyond redemption. Narrating his ordeal at the Intensive Care Unit of the UCTH, the final year student of Education Technology in the Faculty of Education at the University of Calabar said he and Dorothy have been lovers for some years and that they spent the night before the day of the attack together. “We even had passionate sex that night. It was in the morning that she did this to me without any fight”. On what may have prompted the lady to inflict such damage on his body, he said that “Dorothy had once complained that some people had told her that I was dating another lady whom I intend to marry and abandon her after these several years together. But I reassured her that it was not true that people were only trying to destroy our relationship. It did not occur to me that she was still harbouring the grudge”, he said. He said the morning the incident happened, they woke from bed without any sign of trouble and he led her on morning devotion. “It was when I was rounding off the prayers with my eyes still shut that she sneaked out and brought the paint rubber where she hid the acid and poured it on me.” He said his girlfriend who is from Agwagwune in Biase area, Cross River State attacked him while he was not wearing a shirt, so that the acid would have maximum impact on his body. After pouring the acid on me she said “if the God you are praying to supports your plan, I will now see the woman that will accept you with your eyes blind and face destroyed’ and she ran away”. Doctors at the UCTH confirmed that one of Edmund’s eyes had been completely destroyed while the second one could be salvaged. “He needs a skin transplant and adequate care for the other eye to be restored at least for him to see with it and that cannot be done here but outside this country, perhaps in UK or USA”, PMNews source said.
